Charlie Gard Dies in Hospice

R.I.P.

After long legal battle, parents say they were denied “final wish.”

Charlie Gard, the British 11-month-old whose terminal illness led his parents into a bitter legal dispute with the U.K. health system, died Friday after being taken off life support, his parents announced. Connie Yates and Chris Gard fought up to the end to bring the infant home for his final hours, but he was instead sent to a hospice by a High Court judge’s ruling. He was withdrawn from life support Friday and died shortly thereafter.
