Talk about covering all your bases in an interview. Former Vice President Dick Cheney told NBC he was considering a heart transplant, while also deeming President Obama a “one-term president.” Cheney said he suffered from “end-stage heart failure,” and will make a decision “at some point” about getting a transplant, which he said could prolong his life for years. As for Obama, Cheney backed off his previous statements that Obama had made the country “less safe,” and said he was pleased the Obama administration had “found it necessary to be more sympathetic to the things we did” to fight terrorism. Cheney also confirmed that he offered to resign in 2004 in the midst of the former President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign. NBC News will the air the interview—the first Cheney has given since having surgery to implant an artificial pump to assist his heart—Monday night on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and Tuesday morning on the Today show.
