The brother of blind activist Chen Guangcheng said Chinese officials have destroyed evidence of human-rights violations in his village, ahead of possible investigations about abuses there. Chen Guangfu said officials have destroyed "black houses" which were used as guard posts to monitor people going in and out of the village, to put Chen under house arrest, and to mete out beatings to supporters of his brother. The activist, who escaped house arrest in April, is now studying at New York University.
