The brother of Chen Guangcheng, the blind Chinese activist who fled house arrest last month in a daring escape that captured international attention, has escaped from the same guarded village as his brother and is reportedly in Beijing. The brother, Chen Guangfu, said he traveled to Beijing on behalf of his son, who has been accused of manslaughter and is in Chinese custody. A Beijing lawyer said Chen Guangfu is legally a free man, but has been prevented from leaving his village. Chen Guangcheng, meanwhile, arrived in New York on Sunday, but said he is still worried about retribution for the members of his family who remain in China.
