Chicago Cop Sues Family of Teen He Killed

The Chicago police officer who fatally shot engineering student Quintonio LeGrier the day after Christmas will sue the deceased teenager’s estate. Officer Robert Rialmo says LeGrier attacked him when police responded to a 911 call, resulting in the shooting death of LeGrier and his downstairs neighbor Bettie Jones. A lawyer for Rialmo says he plans to sue the family for emotional distress and assault stemming from the incident. LeGrier’s family counters that there was no reason to shoot a mentally ill 19-year-old multiple times.
