Nearly 60,000 Duck Dyansty fans on Facebook have said they plan to attend an appreciation day for the show’s patriarch at, where else, their local Chick-fil-A restaurants. Touting the event as a way to “stand for free speech”, the Chick-Phil-A Day Facebook page asks people to show up wearing "Duck Commander or camouflage gear.” Phil Robertson has been suspended from the show for his recent anti-gay remarks, where he called homosexuals sinful in an interview with GQ. Though Chick-fil-A rejects any affiliation with the event, the restaurant is a natural setting; it was the site of both protests and appreciation days last year when CEO Dan Cathy spoke out against same-sex marriage.
