
In 1993, Michael Chikwanine was kidnapped by rebel militants in the Democratic Republic of COngo at the age of five.He later managed to escape and is now a student at the University of Toronto. In a new graphic novel, Child Soldier, co-written by Jessica Dee Humphreys, illustrated by Claudia Dávila, Chikwanine tells his story of heartbreak and survival. The following slides offer just a taste of this activist's creative method for encouraging young readers to be global thinkers.
