China must not have heard about Bob Dylan’s Christmas album; apparently, they still consider him subversive. Dylan has canceled his Asia tour after Beijing’s culture minister refused to let him play in China. China has been reluctant to allow Western musicians perform ever since Bjork shouted Tibetan indepenence slogans in Shanghai in 2008—even Celine Dion was refused permission to perform there, also in 2008. Unfortunately for Dylan’s fans in Korea and Taiwan, he also cancelled his appearances there.
