Investigators suspect Chinese hackers may be responsible for a massive computer breach against Anthem, the nation’s largest health insurer, Bloomberg first reported Thursday. Citing unnamed individuals familiar with the investigation, Bloomberg reported that the data theft may be linked to a broader campaign of Chinese state-sponsored hacking health companies for personal information on a select group of defense contractors, government workers, and others. The Anthem breach, which was discovered in January and announced this week, exposed details such as income data, street and email addresses as well as Social Security numbers. China has previously been implicated in hacking other U.S. companies.
