Sometimes, Saturday Night Live cuts sketches from the live broadcast for time. Sometimes, they cut them because they’re unbelievably bad. And sometimes—just sometimes—they cut sketches because they’re simply too awesome for TV.
This recently released cut sketch featuring newly minted mega-star Chris Pratt is somehow all three.
Sporting a hastily applied bald wig, Pratt plays action star Jason Statham in an ad for “Jason Statham’s Jason Steakums.” Don’t ask.
It’s pretty easy to see why this was cut: Pratt fumbled his lines, the makeup was bad, the premise was even more ridiculous than Jon Hamm’s John Ham, and somehow, it’s sublime.
