Could New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie go back on his promise not to run for president? A Republican source tells the New York Post that the governor is under “huge pressure from high-ranking Republicans and fundraisers” to get in the race. Politico reports that Christie held an event with Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels last week and had a meeting with a group of major New York donors. One fundraiser who attended the event said Christie is “really considering it,” and another said he had been assured by the group that he'd have plenty of money if he decided to run. Christie told donors he would get back to them in a week with his decision—a week when he is scheduled to make a multi-day fundraising tour through California to benefit the New Jersey Republican Party. Other Republicans with ties to Christie say the governor is simply being respectful of Republican donors and will stand by his adamant statements that he isn't ready to run.
