Christopher Dickey on Matters Foreign and Domestic
The Daily Beast's Foreign Editor was profiled on MSNBC's 'Weekends with Alex Witt.'
The Daily Beast’s Foreign Editor Christopher Dickey was profiled recently as part of the 'Office Politics' segment on MSNBC's Weekends with Alex Witt. Dickey talks with host Alex Witt about everything from the many conflicts currently raging around the world to intimate details about his family.
In Part 1, Dickey unravels the ideology of ISIS: the importance of understanding their intentions, their media savvy, and recruitment tactics.
In Part 2, Dickey talks about the challenges of resolving the crisis in Gaza, the political impasses created by both Palestinians and Israelis, and why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would prefer to keep Hamas in check rather than get rid of them altogether.
In Part 3, Dickey turns to two very disparate topics: Russia and his family. First, he gives his take on Russian president Vladimir Putin’s plan to restore his country to its 19th Century glory. Then, he discusses his father, the late author and poet James Dickey—perhaps best known as the author of Deliverance—whom Christopher calls 'a genius.'
