A woman who was reportedly trapped in the elevator of a swanky Upper East Side townhouse over the weekend was rescued Monday by the New York City Fire Department, according to NBC4. NBC4 identified the woman as an employee of the townhouse’s owners; WPIX-TV editor Tony Gatto reported that she worked in the home as a cleaning woman. The woman was rescued from the elevator of the five-story home at about 10 a.m. ET—and while FDNY did not confirm exactly how long she had been trapped, the department did say she had been stuck in the elevator “over the weekend.” The woman has since been taken to the hospital. NBC4 notes that city records show that the elevator was last inspected in July, and that there were no reported violations.
