Marcus Wellons may become the first inmate executed since a lethal injection went awry in Oklahoma in April. The death row inmate was denied clemency by a judge on Monday, and is scheduled to be executed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Georgia recently upheld a law that allows suppliers of drugs used in executions to stay secret, a controversial protection that has contributed to decisions to stay executions after Oklahoma's scandal. Wellons, now 59, raped and killed a 15-year-old girl in 1989. On Wednesday, Missouri is planning to execute a prisoner, and a third inmate may be put to death later that evening in Florida.
