Despite leading the NBA’s Eastern Conference with a 30-11 record, the Cleveland Cavaliers have fired coach David Blatt. Top coachinc assistant Ty Lue has reportedly agreed to a multiyear deal as the team’s new head coach. Blatt’s dismissal comes as a surprise considering the Cavaliers’ first-place standing and stature as the returning conference champions. Some have speculated such a firing is in part motivated by the Cavaliers’ embarrassing 34-point loss to reigning champions Golden State Warriors earlier this week.
