Hillary Clinton isn’t mincing words when it comes to the new WikiLeaks document dump. She called the leak not just "an attack on America's foreign policy interests" but on “the international community,” and one that “tears at the fabric” of government. Though she downplayed the revelation that Saudi Arabia wants the U.S. to attack Iran, saying it should come as no surprise that Iran’s neighbors are worried about its nuclear program, she said the leak “puts people’s lives in danger, threatens our national security and undermines our efforts to work with other countries.” Clinton especially has reason to be concerned about the leaked diplomatic cables, many of which show American officials speaking frankly about foreign leaders: They’ll likely be the cause of many uncomfortable conversations on her four-day tour of Central Asia and the Persian Gulf. However, she said that in warning foreign officials about the leak, some had joked that their governments had said harsher things than those mentioned in the cables.
