Clinton: DOJ Will Sue Arizona

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s comments about the Arizona immigration law in a June 8th interview for Ecuadorean TV have been getting attention as the date nears for the law to take effect. “President Obama has spoken out against the law because he thinks that the federal government should be determining immigration policy,” said Clinton. “And the Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act.” Attorney General Eric Holder said back in April, “We are considering all possibilities, including the possiblity of a court challenge.” The Department of Justice has until July 27 to challenge the law. The ACLU issued a statement today, urging action. “Every day the administration delays in taking action against this extreme measure is a day closer to its scheduled implementation and one more day that the administration has failed to act on its condemnation of this law."
