CNN host Don Lemon got personal on Thursday while discussing the recent police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Speaking with a panel that included various law enforcement experts, Lemon explained that “as accomplished as I am and a man of color on television who is recognizable to many people,” he always complies with police officers and says “yes, sir” when asked a question. “I do it because I want to stay alive,” Lemon said, adding that his “white counterparts” speak to police officers “in a way that I would never in a million years.”
