A Rhode Island high-school basketball coach committed suicide Monday, three days after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy. Tyrone Dale, a coach at Juanita Sanchez School and the West End Recreation Center in Providence, was charged Friday with second-degree sexual assault and released on $20,000 bail, officials said. Police are working with school officials to investigate any other incidents involving Dale, who was a longtime youth basketball coach in the area. Dale was one of four men who were indicted after being accused of molesting boys at a home for troubled youth in 1992, according to Providence Journal archives. He pleaded no contest to an amended charge of simple assault and received a year’s probation. The home closed in 1993.
