Coats, Fisher Are Senate Nominees

Amidst notably light voter turnout in Indiana, Ohio, and North Carolina, former Senator Dan Coats won the Republican nomination for retiring Sen. Evan Bayh's Senate seat, while Rep. Mark Souder and Indiana's longest-serving congressman, Rep. Dan Burton, both won Republican nominations for the House. In Ohio, Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher won the Democratic primary. North Carolina Democrats Elaine Marshall and Cal Cunningham will have a runoff on June 22, as neither candidate made the requisite 40 percent of the vote.
