Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC rebels’ top commander Timochenko will sign a historic ceasefire agreement Thursday in Havana after more than five decades of warfare. The government has fought a bloody battle against the Marxist insurgent Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia ever since the 1960s. FARC’s uprising was one of the few Latin American rebellions that continued on for multiple decades, causing security and economic problems for the Colombian people.
