Krista and Tatiana Hogan are 4-year-old craniopagus twins, meaning they are joined at the head. One in every 2.5 million twins are connected at the head. The two are even more unique: Brain images show that an attenuated line, which neurosurgeons call a thalamic bridge, connects their brains. It is possible that any sensory input one girl receives could potentially cross the bridge and be received by the other. Though no controlled studies have been done, simple experiments suggest that this may be the case. Neuroscientists haves said the case is “unprecedented” and “mind-blowing.”
