Cop Charged With Throwing 4-Year-Old Boy

AWFUL

Just before he was promoted to sargeant.

A Missouri police officer has been charged with felony child abuse after he allegedly threw a 4-year-old boy into kitchen cabinets, and intentionally pulled and scratched the boy's ear. The Farmington Police department says Jay R. Bellis, 38, admitted that he lost his temper with the child in late February, causing the boy to hit his head. Bellis was employed at the Leadwood police department from 2011 until last fall, when he began an 11-month stint at the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department. He was rehired at Leadwood March 12 and promoted to sargeant.
