Police in Oregon shot and killed a man who tried to steal a helicopter at the Hillsboro Airport on Monday. Officials said shots rang out as the man approached a flight instructor and a student who were sitting inside the helicopter, but added that nobody else was hurt. The man was in a standoff with employees of the Hillsboro Aero Academy, who were also armed, before he escaped by hopping over the airport’s fence. Police officers fatally shot him a short time later. Authorities have not named a motive.
