German prosecutors have released the man they initially arrested after Monday’s deadly truck attack in Berlin, which 12 people and injured nearly another 50 individuals. Officials say they had insufficient evidence to suggest the man in custody was involved in the suspected terror attack. Early Tuesday, a German security official said the suspect was from Pakistan and had applied for asylum after entering the country this year. Now, they believe they had the wrong man in custody. The attacker, whomever it was, reportedly sped an 18-wheeler through wooden Christmas stalls in a holiday market for about 150 feet, crushing dozens of shoppers. Berlin police have said investigators are “working on the assumption that the truck was intentionally driven into the crowd at the Christmas market on Breitscheidplatz.”
