Arizona police are collecting DNA samples from male staff members at a care facility after a woman who has been in a vegetative state for more than a decade gave birth last month, sparking a sexual-assault investigation, The Washington Post reports. The privately run Hacienda HealthCare in Phoenix said in a statement that police investigators served a search warrant to obtain the samples. “As a company, we welcome this development in the ongoing police investigation,” the facility said. The announcement came a day after CEO Bill Timmons announced his resignation. According to AZFamily.com, a source said, “none of the staff were aware that [the patient] was pregnant until she was pretty much giving birth… From what I’ve been told, she was moaning. And they didn’t know what was wrong with her.” No one has been arrested in connection to the incident, and it remains unclear whether officials have identified any suspects.
