Cosby Show star Geoffrey Owens will accept producer Tyler Perry’s offer for acting work on his hit show The Haves and the Have Nots, gossip website TMZ reports. Perry’s offer follows a widely publicized photograph that revealed Owens was working at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s—spurring outrage of the seeming job-shaming. Many in the entertainment industry came to the Yale-trained actor’s defense, however, including Perry—who on Sept. 4 tweeted at Owens “I’m about to start shootings OWN’s number one drama next week! Come join us!!! I have so much respect for people who hustle between gigs. The measure of a true artist.” TMZ, citing sources, reports that Owens will take on a recurring role in 10 episodes.
