Cosplayers Take Over New York Comic Con
Where do they get the money to make the costumes AND buy tickets?
The White House Correspondents Dinner may be called the “Nerd Prom” but let's be honest, it’s got nothing on the New York Comic Con. Thursday was the start of the 2014 NYCC and hordes of fanboys and fangirls descended upon the Jacob Javitz Center geeking out dressed as their favorite superheroes and villains, anime characters, and zombies.
YouTubers The Super Zeros went down and caught the cosplayers on video Thursday. The attention to detail in some of the costumes is a testament to the fans’ creativity when it comes to their obsessions.
A fun side effect to this gathering is that fans interacting as characters from unrelated franchises inadvertently create story crossovers that no one, except maybe Alan Moore, ever thought of before.
This is also probably the only time you’re ever going to see Batman baddies Bane and the Scarecrow twerking on each other.
