Spain's Constitutional Court blocked Catalonia's parliament from moving towards independence on Wednesday, after the regional assembly passed a resolution for secession on Monday. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy filed a petition to bar Catalan officials from moving forward on the resolution, which if passed would lead to secession within 18 months. Rajoy had previously stated interest in appealing to the Constitutional Court to block the regional assembly's efforts. Catalan Vice-President Neus Munte has vowed to carry on with plans despite the court ruling.
