“I’ve met a lot of prime ministers in my time, but none so young and not so many so smart, and never one so attractive,” was the actual, real way an Australian interviewer opened up his exclusive interview with New Zealand’s PM, Jacinda Ardern. From there, things got even worse from veteran reporter Charles Wooley, who went on to grill the leader—who was being interviewed alongside her partner—on when the couple conceived their unborn child. “One really important political question that I want to ask you, and that is what exactly is the date that the baby’s due?” he asked, adding: “It’s interesting how much people have been counting back to the conception date.” Ardern responded that she didn’t think it was necessary to go into that detail. In another clip, Wooley expressed his shock that Ardern’s partner does the laundry at home. After Wooley was heavily criticized for his “creepy” interview style, Ardern told reporters that she was “not fazed” by the line of questioning.
