Super PACs supporting Ted Cruz said Wednesday they would donate $1.5 million to military-veteran charities if Donald Trump agrees to face the Texas senator in a one-on-one-debate. Keep the Promise, the group of super PACs supporting Cruz, released a statement pledging to donate after Cruz challenged Trump to the separate debate. “This money is in addition to the millions of proceeds available to the veterans as a share of the revenues that this debate could secure from a host network,” according to the press release. On Wednesday, Trump announced he was skipping Fox News’s Thursday debate to host his own event benefiting veterans at Iowa’s Drake University. Cruz said he has sent an official request to Trump to debate at Western Iowa Tech, a community college in Sioux City, on or before Jan. 31.
