Cuba Eliminates Mother-to-Child HIV

Cuba has become the first country in the world to stamp out mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis, the World Health Organization announced Tuesday. The achievement comes after nationwide efforts to give more pregnant women early access to testing, prenatal care, and antiretroviral medicines which stop the diseases from passing from mother to child.
