The Chicago Cubs have had it with being the “Loveable Losers.” Tuesday night, the Cubs beat out the Boston Red Sox and signed free-agent pitcher Jon Lester to a $155 million, six-year deal. It's a franchise record contract. Combined with World Series-winning Coach Joe Maddon, “the signing of Lester means that much of their heavy lifting for this offseason has been completed” to reach the playoffs, the Chicago Tribune writes.
