Amidst the destruction and grief in Mumbai, The Times of London flags an unlikely group of heroes: "The staff of the Taj Mahal Palace hotel saved hundreds of wealthy guests as heavily armed gunmen roamed the building, firing indiscriminately, leaving a trail of corpses behind them." In some cases, staff literally took bullets for guests, while in others they herded guests into safer areas and locked them down, creating shelters in a café and a business center at the Taj Mahal. Says one grateful guest: "They handed out blankets, drinks. Despite the chaos all around they didn't stop working for a second. They were amazingly calm."
