Missouri police are calling it a miracle. A stressed-out father walked into a police station in Greenwood on Monday morning and told stunned officers that he had drowned his 6-month-old daughter in an icy pond, the Kansas City Star reported. The police chief and an officer raced to the scene and found the tiny girl floating face-up, her mouth filled with water and her skin drained of life. Cpl. Tom Calhoun ran into the water, brought the baby to the bank and began CPR until she started breathing. “There was absolutely someone watching over that child today,” Lt. Aaron Fordham told the paper. The father, Jonathon Zicarelli, told police he plotted the drowning for more than 24 hours because he wanted to make things easier for his wife, according to court documents. The child, who had severe hypothermia after being in the freezing water for at least 10 minutes, is expected to recover.
