Longtime NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced his retirement on Tuesday. The announcement came from his team, Hendrick Motorsports, for which Earnhardt has driven since 2008. Earnhardt, 42, has won 26 races in his career, including two Daytona 500 wins in 2004 and 2014. For 14 consecutive seasons, he has won the Most Popular Driver Award. His father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., was killed in a 2001 crash at the Daytona 500. Other high-profile drivers who left NASCAR recently include Jeff GOrdon, Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards.
