The Child's Dream, Damien Hirst’s gold-horned unicorn encased in a gold-plated tank of formaldehyde, will get its first viewing in the U.K. this fall at Tate St Ives. The 2008 sculpture will be featured in the Cornwall exhibition The Dark Monarch, which will also include work by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Derek Jarman, and others. "The unicorn is a powerful symbol of good in early pagan mythology and is still associated with fairytales and the mystical landscapes of King Arthur in Britain and Cornwall,” said Martin Clark, artistic director at Tate St Ives. “Hirst's exploration of this beautiful, but unreachable, beast will be a great opening to our exhibition." The title of the show comes from Sven Berlin’s 1962 book about the sexual exploits of St Ives' famous colony of artists.
