Darren Wilson was given a standing ovation at a police benefit last weekend. Wilson, the former Ferguson police officer cleared in the shooting death of Michael Brown, was attending a trivia event to help a county deputy convicted on burglary and assault charges that were later overturned. At the event, Wilson reportedly gave a short speech and thanked people for their support, which they returned with said ovation. Attorney Neil Bruntrager dismissed the idea that Wilson had received funding from the organization. “Darren was there because a friend invited him,” Bruntrager said. “He was just there as an attendee, a trivia player. He was a guest of a friend.”
