Dee Barnes, the host of a Fox show about hip-hop called Pump It Up! was assaulted by Dr. Dre in 1991. After watching the film Straight Outta Compton, she took particular issue with the fact that it didn't discuss this event at all. Dre allegedly choked her on the floor of the women's bathroom at an album release party. Barnes said she thought at the time: "He's trying to kill me." She implicates the Compton director F. Gary Gray is the same man who filmed her 1991 interview with Ice Cube that apparently prompted Dre's assault.
