One of the men convicted in the gang rape and death of a young Indian woman said the victim is to blame for the fatal internal injuries she suffered during a brutal sexual assault. "When being raped, she shouldn't fight back. She should just be silent and allow the rape,” said Mukesh Singh, who drove the off-duty bus on which a 23-year-old was woman gang raped and beaten with an iron instrument in December 2012, during an interview for an upcoming BBC documentary. Singh also said the victim deserved to be attacked because she had been out at 8:30 p.m., having seen the Life of Pi with a male friend. “A decent girl won’t roam around at 9 o’clock at night. A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy,” he said. “Housework and housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes. About 20 percent of girls are good.” Singh is on death row for his involvement in the attack.
