Delta Plane Carrying Carolina Panthers Players Slides Off Taxiway
FUMBLED TOUCHDOWN
A Delta plane carrying Carolina Panthers players slid off the taxiway at an airport early Friday, reports say. The jet—a Boeing 767-300—landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport at around 2:40 a.m., the airline said. “The right main gear of Delta 8860 exited the taxiway… following a normal arrival,” Delta told WCNC-TV in a statement. A taxiway is a route aircrafts use to travel between runways, gates, and other airport areas. “No injuries were reported by the 188 customers who are deplaning and being bused to the terminal,” the statement continued. “We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.” Emergency vehicles met the plane which reportedly came to a stop in mud alongside the taxiway. Sources told WBTV Panthers players and coaches were on board the plane, with the team returning from New England after a 17-3 preseason loss to the New England Patriots Thursday night.
