Dem. Memo: Mass. Senate Race 'Urgent'

It seems even the Democratic Party now fears that Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat could soon belong to a Republican: An internal memo circulated by the Democratic National Committee among top donors calls the Massachusetts Senate contest between Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown “very tight” and makes an “urgent” appeal for new donations. “Our internal polling shows the race to be a very tight race that means we must do everything we can to ensure we are victorious,” the memo reads, and it acknowledges that the efforts of national conservative groups to mobilize on behalf of Brown are “working,” while the Dems are struggling to move independents.
