Several Democratic lawmakers blasted the Trump administration in response to a Daily Beast report that revealed the Department of Homeland Security has disbanded an intelligence unit dedicated to domestic terror. “My staff have been asking the Trump Administration to brief us on their efforts to fight domestic terrorism threat for six months,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) wrote on Twitter Tuesday. “Now we know why the Administration is stalling.” Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NY) called the story a “scandal.” “The continuing rise of right wing domestic terrorism threatens every community and the Trump admin’s response is to cut funding to fight it?” Pascrell tweeted. Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-NJ) also he has asked the House Appropriations Committee to increase funding for offices fighting domestic terror. “We must start taking this threat as seriously as the threat from groups like ISIS, and Congress will lead if the administration won’t,” Malinowski wrote on Twitter.
