Dems Embraces Budget

Fears of "tax-and-spend" label reside.

Democrats have feared the “tax-and-spend” label for years, but when it comes to President Barack Obama’s expensive new budget, they’re lining up behind their leader. According to The New York Times, “even Democrats with reservations hailed it as a long-overdue example of honesty in federal budgeting after years of what Senator Ben Nelson, Democrat of Nebraska, called ‘fudgeting.’” The tax increases on wealthy Americans are viewed as reasonable by many, especially because they are packaged with middle class tax cuts, will not take place for two years, and will be used to halve the deficit during Obama’s first term.
