A federal judge has ordered the release a man who was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement while delivering a pizza to a New York military base in June. District Judge Paul Crotty ordered 35-year-old Pablo Villavicencio Calderon to be immediately released and his deportation halted after granting Calderon’s request for a writ of habeas corpus. Calderon was asked to present identification on June 1 while delivering a pizza at Fort Hamilton, and a background check revealed that he had an open order of removal since 2010. The father of two and husband of a U.S. citizen was immediately detained and has been held in Hudson County jail ever since.
