Detroit police arrested a “person of interest” Wednesday in connection with a series of rapes, but police identified the suspect only as a “person of interest.” Although they declined to comment further, sources told the Detroit Free Press that a tip led police to the man, but an arrest warrant has not yet been obtained. Police said they were testing forensic evidence in the case. Since Jan. 1, seven women have been raped and one more was attacked and escaped in the northeast section of Detroit, all while waiting at or walking to bus stops. The victims have all been black women ranging in age from 17 to 33.
