Diana Nyad, the 64-year-old woman who recently became the first person to complete a 53-mile swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage, finished her 48-hour swim Thursday after raising $103,000 for superstorm Sandy victims. Nyad, who was joined by Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and Richard Simmons in the 40-yard N.Y.C. pool, said she did it to remind the Sandy victims that she hadn’t forgotten about them. “It’s a year later, and it’s not on the front page of the newspaper, but those people [Sandy survivors] haven’t forgotten.”
