Could the second time be the charm for Diane Wood? After being passed over for the Supreme Court seat that went to Sonia Sotomayor, the progressive judge is considered a front-runner for the current vacancy left by retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. Wood met personally today with both President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, a source has told The Huffington Post, making her the fourth candidate to get a face-to-face interview after Solicitor General Elena Kagan and appellate judges Merrick Garland and Sidney Thomas. Sources close to the White House say that Stevens' successor could be announced as early as next week.
