With Julianne Moore recently cast as Sarah Palin in HBO’s adaptation of Game Change and former President George W. Bush’s life translated to the big screen in W, it’s time for former Vice President Dick Cheney to head to Hollywood. Deadline exclusively revealed Monday that HBO has optioned Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Barton Gellman’s Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency for an upcoming miniseries. Paula Weinstein will produce and Rick Cleveland ( Six Feet Under and The West Wing) will pen the unnamed project, which will also pull from the Frontline documentary The Dark Side. The miniseries will tell Cheney’s story from his early days in the Nixon administration as Donald Rumsfeld’s protégé to America’s youngest chief of staff under President Ford to his days as the secretary of defense under George H.W. Bush, and through his two terms as President George W. Bush’s vice president.
