Runaway Governor

Did Sanford Really Go to Argentina?

Never checked into the U.S. embassy.

Mark Sanford says he spent the past few days driving along the coast in Buenos Aires, but according to the Associated Press, that trip should only take a few minutes: “In Buenos Aires, the Avenida Costanera is the only coastal road, and it's less than two miles long.” Other problems with Sanford’s story? In Argentina right now, it’s the dead of winter. And, as ABC News has discovered, Sanford never checked into the U.S. embassy in Buenos Aires. An embassy official says, “it would be extremely odd that a US governor would not check in with the embassy."
